Ok. I made it to Madrid! I'm so overwhelmed right now! I'm tired, excited, nervous, scared, sad, etc. I cried for the first time. I didn't see that coming. But I have a wonderful hostmom. Her name is Sol and she has been so kind to me and helped me get more relaxed. I have so many adventures ahead of me. I got about four hours of broken sleep since yesterday at 8:30am. It's 5:00pm here. I've taken three planes, a metro, and a taxi to get here. Might I add with two suitcases (one weighing 50llbs) and a backpack. I need to pack lighter. :) I have a small post that I couldn't get online from when I was traveling. I will post it below for fun. Random note: The toilet paper in the London Heathrow airport comes out like papertowels, one sheet at a time. I found that interesting. I have only a few random pictures for you, but I'm not sure if I can get them on here from my phone. We will see.
Boarding the plane in Evansville
Ready to head out
One last hug from my niece Layla.
My plane taking off from Evansville
Previous Post:
So I’m starting to wonder if I have not noticed people
staring at me in the past, if this is a new phenomenon, or if I’m just
paranoid. I feel like everyone is
looking at me like “look at that American!”
or more like “look at that fat girl”.
It most likely started when the British lady I was supposed to sit next
to on the plane looked at me and said “You’re supposed to sit here?”
I said yes and then went to find an open bin for my carry on. While I was gone she had the nerve to go find
somewhere else to sit by finding a flight attendant. On top of that, she actually stole someone
else’s seat and they made that lady move to her old seat. And later I heard her talking to her friends
at the airport about having to move in such a snooty attitude. That really put a damper on my trip. What a rude woman. Way to give the Brits a bad rep. Luckily, I have many AWESOME British friends
that are way kinder than her and I know better. I feel a bit better now that I’ve
ranted. I’m in the London airport
waiting for my flight to Madrid. Did I
mention London Heathrow is a pain to go through? It took me an hour and a half to get off my
plane, through the terminals, to customs, then security again, then the gates
to sit and wait. I wish I could take
more pictures of the signs here for all of you.
I took a few, but I’m worried enough about stares without taking random
pictures everywhere. I find signs so
fun. They vary from country to
country. I forgot how restrooms are
labeled “toilets” in England. Well I’m off
to find my gate and get ready to board.
