Another week
I can't believe I've already been in Madrid a week. While thinking back on my time here, I thought of some interesting things and thought I would share them with you.
- I miss convenient to go snacks. (Like pre-packaged goldfish for the road)
- I have ridden the bus or metro every day I have been here (including the day I arrived)
- I like being able to use Spanish daily and am amazed at how my vocabulary is coming back
- In contradiction to that, I miss the vocabulary I had years ago when I was studying
- I like the excitement Spaniards have for futbol
- I don't like the unisex bathroom in the cafeteria
- I'm tired of being stared at.
- I'm pretty sure there are two "buttons" on the toilet for number 1 and number 2 (picture below)
- I wish I could read faster.
- I like the bus more than the metro because I can see things as I go (instead of the concrete walls) and I have a better sense of direction when I get off the bus.
- Spaniards separate garbage into materials (paper, plastic, etc.) and food? (I'm not sure how to say that, but basically things that would go in a compost type bin)
Studying abroad is such an eye opening experience in many ways. Oh the adventures I shall have!
Back of toilet
The two buttons on the toilet, one uses more water. I think they may do this because water is very expensive in Madrid. Well, utilities in general are expensive. So I think the middle one is for #1 and then if you press the outer one with the middle one it is for #2.
A pharmacy
For those of you who know me
dun dun dun.. another one bites the dust. Yes, I brought enough for the entire stay (I hope). :)
My awesome fan I got at El Rastro I was so excited when I saw it. You have to make sure you get the wooden ones with the smaller tops of material so they give a better breeze.
Mi bufanda that I got at El Rastro for the Spain Euro Cup game (WE WON!)
Random picture of some potato chips (onduladas - ruffled)
